Registration of Marriage

Today we got a question from Sharon.

Here’s what Sharon was asking:

Have a good day for everybody, I’m married to american here in the Philippines, now my question is

1. Do my husband need to declare that I am his wife to the u.s embassy? even we don’t have baby?

2. Do I need to register our marriage contract Philippine to the u.s embassy in Manila? hope guys you can help me to answer my question I’m so grateful for helping me….

Here’s what Bob had to say:

Hi Sharon,  I don’t believe the US Embassy would care at all who his wife is. Why would they want or need to know? It’s really none of their business, and would really serve no purpose (for you or for them) who you are. Not trying to be mean about it.. just stating the truth as I know it.

Hello Totie – I am sorry, I really don’t know the full procedure for taking pets to the Philippines. It is my understanding that you need to do some documents from the Embassy or Consulate, but if they are not helpful in assisting you, I don’t know what to do. Sorry about that.

You’ll need vaccination records from your vet. All shots must be updated and brought to current dates. All vets can give you the right paper work.

Totie. Hate to say it but your wasting your time with emailing. The phone number on their website is a far better way to get the answers you need. The reason I say that is I know a few people their and they really don’t have the staff to answer emails. As stated call the phone number listed on their website. Just be prepared to be on the phone for at least one hour. Good luck.

Totie, Hi I am trying to understand if I can claim my daughter as a dependent to file on my taxes. I am an american citizen by birth, my daughter was born in the Philippines, my tax office tells me I cannot claim her as a dependent, then again, http://manila.usembassy.gov/service/citizenship.html, website tells me, I need to come to Manila and request a birth abroad form, and fill it out, to my daughter a US Passport, but do I have to come to Manila just to fill out the form. Thanks
